Back & Neck Pain

Non-surgical evaluation and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain.

Back and neck pain can come from muscles, joints, discs, or irritated nerves. A physiatrist (a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation) looks at how the pain affects your movement and daily activities, not only where it hurts.

Your visit typically includes a history and physical examination focused on strength, reflexes, sensation, and motion. If pain travels into an arm or leg, nerve testing (EMG/NCS) may help find the cause.

Treatment plans are built around restoring function and may combine therapy, activity guidance, and other non-surgical care. If surgery may help, your physician will discuss a referral.

Call 911 or go to an emergency room for back pain with new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin area, sudden leg weakness, or pain after a serious fall or accident.
